Excerpt:
Inventiveness and technical efficiency, ably assisted by commercial alertness, have made possible the great development of the Danish manufacturing industries.

The civil engineers, graduated from the Royal Technical College at Copenhagen, are of an unusually high standard. And most of the industrial workers are very competent. While serving as apprentices they have to study in technical night schools for several years and are not recognized as skilled workers unless they pass their examinations.

The result is that Denmark specializes in goods of high quality. Mass production is not the rule, distinction is the key-note. Nowhere is this demonstrated better than where art and technique work together. Danish porcelain and Danish silverware are triumphs of industrial culture, appreciated and sold all over the world.
